Canyoning Slovenia

Activities in SLovenia

Canyoning is traveling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include other outdoor activities such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling (rapelling), and/or swimming.. It is attractive but safe experience, full of adrenaline and fun. In combination with white water rafting on one of Slovenia's beautiful green rivers surrounded by high mountains it makes it one of the best experiences here in the sunny side of the Alps.
Activities in SLovenia

1. Canyoning places in Triglav National Park (Bovec Slovenia):

  • Predelica

This long stream with a famous, almost inaccessible gorge in the Triglav National Park springs from several sources at the Predel mountain pass and flows into the Koritnica in Log pod Mangartom.
Its many waterfalls run into green and emerald pools.
With the permission of the Triglav National Park, several sports companies offer guided canyoning on the Predelica.
The highest of the lively waterfalls in the upper course is the 50 m Predelski slap waterfall. The middle course is known for Zaročenca, a 30 m waterfall that has created a dark green pool. The Poševni slap waterfall is about 20 m high.
In 2000, a major landslide struck from the slopes of Mangart, altering the middle and lower sections of the gorge.
The approach is very difficult, so hiring a guide is recommended.

  • Fratarica

Starting in the Loška stena snowfield, there are over 22 waterfalls in the course of the stream running towards Log pod Mangartom. The most famous is the 48 m Parabola waterfall in the lower section of the stream.
With the permission of the Triglav National Park, several sports companies offer canyoning on the Fratarica.
In the upper course of the Fratarica especially, the waterfalls are not easily accessible so it is recommended that you visit with a guide.

  • Sušec

On the north face of the Stol mountains, the Sušec stream has carved out a beautiful gorge boasting pools, waterfalls, rapids and gullies making up a unique natural water park.
The Sušec is famous as the perfect stream for guided canyoning, organised by several sports companies in the Bovec area.
As governed by the Decree, permits are required for canyoning in the Sušec.
Access to the Sušec stream:
Just after the village of Žaga on the Bovec-Kobarid road, across from the Srpenica I entry and exit point, a road branches off to the right and leads to the parking lot and the last waterfall on the stream.
